ABSS Officials Celebrate Renovations of Historic McCray School

Yesterday, officials with the Alamance Burlington School System participated in a celebration of the renovation of the historic McCray School in the Pleasant Grove community. A variety of community members volunteered their time and resources to renovate the small school house, which was used by local African American students up until 1951. The 900-square foot building was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1986. The renovation of the school began in earnest on May 1. School officials hope it can now be used for field trips and other educational programs for current students.
