ABSS Superintendent Takes Short-Term Leave of Absence
The Alamance Burlington School Board met Wednesday morning and voted to grant a leave of absence to superintendent Bruce Benson. No reason was given by the board for the short-term leave; however, the “Alamance News” reported that Benson is a patient at Duke University Medical Center. The board voted 4-3 to grant the leave and to appoint Jeremy Teetor to temporarily handle the superintendent’s duties. Teeter currently serves as the chief finance officer for the Alamance-Burlington School System. The Alamance News reported that the vote was close because the board members were split on who should handle Dr. Benson’s duties in his absence.
