Alamance-Burlington Schools Hope to Fill 323 Vacancies by Start of School

Several area school systems are having a difficult time filling vacant positions. According to the Alamance Burlington School System website, ABSS has 323 openings to fill. Winston-Salem Forsyth Schools has about 345 job openings, and Guilford County Schools lists about 800 openings on its website. The jobs vary from teacher and teacher assistant vacancies, to cafeteria workers and bus drivers. "It's a very challenging time to be a part of a school district right now; it’s an extremely competitive labor market.” That’s how Jevelyn Bonner-Reed described the situation. Reed is the HR director for the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.
