Alamance County Inmate Dies While In Jail
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office released information yesterday that Frank James Hamlett Jr. died while serving time as an inmate at the Alamance County Detention Center. When officers brought Hamlett his dinner Monday at 6:24 p.m., they found him in medical distress. A detention officer performed CPR until EMS arrived. Paramedics continued life-saving efforts; however, they were unable to revive Hamlett. The cause of death is being investigated by the medical examiner. Hamlett became an inmate on Saturday after he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and given a $20,000 secured bond. He was also determined to be in violation of probation.
