Alamance County’s “Substantial” Transmission of COVID Means the Return of Masks, CDC Says
Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control released its latest recommendations regarding ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With Tuesday’s guidelines, the CDC said vaccinated people should again begin wearing masks indoors in areas that are experiencing “substantial or high transmission” of the disease. The transmission rate is at the “substantial” rate here in Alamance County with 28 new cases reported in our county in the last week. North Carolina’s current mask mandate is set to expire this Friday. Many of Governor Roy Cooper’s previous executive orders have followed the CDC guidelines closely. The Governor’s COVID task force is expected to meet today, and he will most likely issue a new executive order by Friday. Any new order will most likely address the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and will likely address the state’s mask guidelines for our schools.
