Alamance County To Benefit From Opioid Settlement
Free money is hard to pass up, whether it’s from the government or from a lawsuit. We have all heard the commercials saying “you may be owed compensation.” Even officials with Alamance County could not resist. They joined the lawsuit against the drug companies making opioids, and now they are raking in the cash. They say nearly 40 million opioid pills were distributed in Alamance County between 2006 and 2012. The reason for the lawsuit against 3 different drug companies is that those companies were pushing doctors to prescribe the opioids. It appears that our county government will be getting a little more than 10 million dollars, breaking it down to half a million dollars each year for the next 18 years.
