Antique Auction In Mebane Expected to Draw International Bidders

The 28th annual Carolina Country Store Auction begins tomorrow and continues through Saturday in Mebane. The event is hosted by the Mebane Antique Auction Gallery and features both in-person and online opportunities to bid. The auction items come from various estates, including some rare bottles from the Burnett Family. The Burnett Family founded a Pepsi bottling operation in Roxboro in 1905. Included in the Burnett estate is a rare Mountain Dew Party Jug with its original cap. That bottle could go for as high as $10,000. Other auction items include tobacco-related memorabilia from the collection of Tom Gray, the great-grandson of R.J. Reynolds, as well as medicine bottles from the collection of Elsie Booker – the first woman to graduate from UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Pharmacy.
