Asphalt Plant to be Built Near Caswell-Alamance Line
The North Carolina Division of Air Quality has approved a new asphalt processing plant on Highway 62 near the Alamance – Caswell border. The plant, to be built and operated by Carolina Sunrock, will take up 84 acres in southern Caswell County and will have a Burlington address. Carolina Sunrock will also construct a quarry and distribution facility approximately 19 miles from this site in the community of Prospect Hill. Both of these Carolina Sunrock projects had previously been rejected by state air quality regulators. However, Carolina Sunrock submitted a revised set of plans for the sites last month and received approval just a few days ago.
