Burlington Applies for Grants to Purchase New Buses
The Burlington City Council has indicated that the city’s five-year-old Link Transit bus fleet needs to be replaced. On Tuesday, the council agreed to apply for two state Department of Transportation grants to assist with the funding for the replacements. The grants request funds to purchase five buses to run the system’s regular bus routes and three buses to provide transportation for the city’s disabled passengers. If approved, all eight buses will be gas powered. Previous City Council discussions about new buses had included plans to purchase at least two electric buses; however, the council decided not to include electric vehicles in these applications.
