Burlington Seeks State Support for Water/Sewer Improvements
While we are several weeks away from having a final state budget for 2021 through 2023, the North Carolina Senate’s budget proposal includes $5.8 million to make water and sewer improvements in Burlington. State Senator Amy Galey, who represents Alamance County, said the money is needed to boost Burlington’s economic development. Galey told the Times-News that several sites for proposed development are at a disadvantage when compared to other sites in the state because Burlington’s water and sewer lines are not yet accessible at the city’s large vacant properties. Water and sewer lines are also needed near the Burlington Airport if the city is to attempt to develop an industrial park in that area. The North Carolina House is expected to release its version of the state budget later this month.
