Burlington Textile Facility Expands Its Work on Park Avenue
Shawmut Corporation recently held a grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for its newly renovated facilities that manufacture automobile upholstery materials along with other custom fabrics on Park Avenue in Burlington. The upgraded facilities include a new technical development center with customer meeting and collaboration spaces. A company spokesperson said the new space is “one of the largest and most technologically advanced fabric finishing operations in the US.” Shawmut employs 145 people in Burlington and focuses on products for the automotive, military and protective, health and safety markets. Automotive materials are the Burlington facility’s main output, with more than 50 percent of all cars produced for the North American market fitted with headliner materials from this facility. Shawmut has been operating the plant in Burlington since 2018 when the lamination division of Glen Raven Mills merged with Shawmut.
