Childhood Obesity Rates Soar During Pandemic
The American Medical Association reported that childhood obesity increased dramatically since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The association said obesity increased from 36.2 percent to 45.7 percent among children ages five to eleven years old. Researchers, along with child nutrition experts, said parents can help combat childhood obesity by encouraging regular physical activity by all members of the family and by providing healthy snack options for children. It is also a good idea to eat meals together as a family and for parents to model healthy eating habits.
