Construction to Affect Weekend Interstate Traffic Near Mebane

Paving crews are expected to close all ramps from Interstates 40/85 to North Carolina Highway 119 in Mebane this weekend. The ramp closures are expected to begin Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. on Exit 153. Work is planned throughout the weekend and is expected to be completed by Monday morning at 6 a.m. Travelers are asked to use Exit 152 (the Trollingwood Road Exit) as a detour. In other Interstate construction news, crews will be working early Sunday morning on Eastbound I-40 from Mile Marker 154 to Mile Marker 160. This will be a moving closure in Orange County. Work will take place early Sunday morning, from midnight until 6 a.m. This work will go from Mebane Oaks Road (at Exit 154) through to Mount Willing Road (which is at mile marker 160). Even with this work happening overnight, there will still be delays. Highway 70 will be the best alternative.
