Graham Caregiver Charged After 8-month-old Consumes Drugs
Thirty-two-year-old Autumn Rebekah Ross of Graham has been charged with negligent child abuse causing serious bodily injury after her eight-month-old child consumed prescription drugs while in her care. The child consumed her prescription Suboxone, a drug used to treat opioid addiction. Ross allegedly knew the child had taken the drug; however, she decided not to call emergency services in an apparent effort to avoid law enforcement. A friend called poison control and took the child to the hospital early Wednesday morning for treatment. This is the second incident of child abuse for Ross this year. In February, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office took out a felony warrant for Ross after this same child suffered a broken bone.
