Historic Homes to Soon Have New Guidelines in Burlington
Thanks to a $22,000 grant from the Historic Preservation Fund of North Carolina, Burlington’s Historic District will soon have a new set of guidelines to govern what can and cannot be changed on historic homes. The current set of guidelines is 30 years old and in need of revisions. The changes are necessary because of advances in sustainable building materials and natural disaster preparedness. An update will also give the city the opportunity to clarify the language it uses, making the guidelines easier for property owners to understand and follow.
