Homeschooling Gains Popularity; Alamance Has More than 1,600 Homes Participating
It's no surprise the number of homeschool families grew during the Covid-19 Pandemic. According to the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education, the number of recognized homeschools in our state grew by nearly 19 percent last year, growing from approximately 95,000 homeschools to 112,614. The division estimates that approximately 17 percent of all school-aged children are now in a homeschool in our state. Alamance County has 1,641 registered homeschools, while Orange County as 1,182.
