Hunt Family Gives $3 million Estate Gift to Fund Elon Scholarships
With a $3 million estate gift from Sam and Vicky Hunt, Elon University has now reached 90 percent of its $250 million goal in the LEADS fundraising campaign. Elon LEADS is the largest campaign in the university’s history. The Hunt gift will be used to create more scholarships for students at Elon – one of four priorities for the LEADS campaign, which will wrap up at the end of 2022. Vicky Hunt has been an Elon trustee since 1997. Her husband, Sam Hunt, is the retired chair and CEO of Atlas Lighting and Hunt Electric Supply – both of Burlington. He served four terms in the North Carolina House before becoming state transportation secretary and chair of the North Carolina Railroad.
