Law Enforcement Needs Your Help to Stop Spike in Drive-By Shootings

Throughout the month of July and into the first few days of August, local law enforcement agencies have received multiple reports of drive-by shootings. There were nine such shootings in July – shootings into occupied homes and other structures, such as businesses. Officials with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office believe the shootings are related and are being carried out by juveniles between the ages of 15 and 17. At this point, just one of the shootings resulted in a person being struck by gunfire. The sheriff’s office indicated that it is working with Burlington and Graham Police Departments to identify and charge the individuals. Police are asking for your help with the investigation. If you hear information about the shootings, no matter how small it may seem to be, report it to your local law enforcement agency or contact Alamance County Crime Stoppers at www.alamancecs.org.
