More Bus Drivers Needed for Alamance-Burlington Schools

Alamance Burlington Schools continue to struggle to hire enough bus drivers to meet the demand. Despite a $1,000 hiring incentive, ABSS is still short about 40 drivers. This shortage is requiring several buses to run double routes and is causing students to be late getting to school and late getting home. “This is not an issue unique to a particular school or school attendance zone in ABSS — it is a continuing challenge to cover all routes,” a school system spokesperson told WGHP Fox 8. “We have teacher assistants, teachers and coaches who have their bus license helping to fill in the gaps where we don’t have enough full-time bus drivers.”
