More Funding Available to Help Alamance County Renters

Recent changes in the HOPE program opens up additional federal funds for Alamance County residents who are struggling to pay rent or utility bills. Previously, applicants could only make 50 percent of the median income in their area to be eligible. The program has now stretched the applicant pool to include those who make up to 80 percent of the median income. In Alamance County that means that families who make $54,000 or less annually can apply for assistance. Eligible applicants can get up to 12 months of rent assistance and up to three months of utility payments for electricity, gas, water and sewer bills.
