Non-Profit Groups Applies for Another Alamance County Charter School
If the application is approved by the North Carolina Department of Instruction, Alamance County could have its fifth charter school by fall 2023. According to a story in Alamance News, the application was filed by Financial Reform for Excellence in Education, a nonprofit that has previously opened charter schools in Alamance, Orange, Chatham and Durham Counties. If approved, the new charter school would be called Unity Global Academy and could open in 2023 with as many as 450 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. A charter school is a tuition-free school of choice that is publicly funded but independently operated.
