Orange School Board Removes those Making Public Comments Monday
Hillary MacKenzie, the chair of the Orange County Board of Education, had at least four individuals removed from Monday’s board meeting because – according to MacKenzie – they chose to speak about topics that were not on the board’s agenda. The removals took place during the public comments section of the meeting. During the meeting, the board unanimously adopted a resolution that says the board “stands united against all forms of white nationalism and white supremacy” and supports the Black Lives Matter movement. The resolution was written at least in part as a retaliation to members of the Proud Boys protesting the school board’s COVID policies at a September 24 Orange High School football game. Those speaking during the public comments portion included students and adults speaking both for and against the board’s resolution.
