Retired NASCAR Drivers to Test Next Gen Car at Bowman Gray Tuesday
NASCAR has called on three retired drivers to test the new Next Gen car at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem this week. The test, which is scheduled for Tuesday, will feature Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer. In early 2022, NASCAR plans to construct a one-quarter-mile track identical to Bowman Gray inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. That LA track will be the site of a February 6 exhibition race, known as the Clash. By using retired drivers, NASCAR can gain insight into how the Next Gen car will respond to the short track without giving any current drivers an unfair advantage.
