Richmond, Virginia to Remove Confederate Monument Wednesday
A towering statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee will be removed from its prominent Richmond, Virginia location on Wednesday. The removal of the statue has been the subject of legal battles over the past year. Last week, a ruling by the Supreme Court of Virginia cleared the way for the statue to be taken down from its Monument Avenue location. The statue is a 21-foot tall bronze likeness of Lee on horseback. It sits on a granite pedestal. According to The Washington Post, it is Virginia’s largest Confederate monument.
