Saturday Ceremony to Honor Life of Mebane’s “Bicycle Man”

A celebration of life ceremony will take place this Saturday, July 10, from noon to 2 p.m. for Henry Riley – known around Mebane as “the Bicycle Man.” Riley passed away April 2 at the age of 89; however, the Mebane Enterprise reports that Covid restrictions caused his family to postpone a service honoring his life. Riley was a regular at Tommy’s Mini Mart and was often seen riding his bicycle around Mebane. He was a member of Hunters Chapel AME Church, where he served as usher, trustee, custodian and groundskeeper. Saturday’s celebration will take place at Holt Street Park in Mebane.
