State Has Asked FEMA to Supply Ambulances and Emergency Workers
Several agencies in our state are facing a shortage of first responders – including emergency medical personnel and ambulance drivers. Because the shortages affect several areas of our state, Dr. Mandy Cohen, secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services, has put in a request to FEMA – the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Cohen has asked FEMA for 50 ambulances and the personnel to staff them. She said that if FEMA does grant the request, the state plans to spread the ambulances out to various regions of our state so that counties can request their help as needed.
